JIX Research Fellowship
The JIX Research Fellowship is an R&D driven student support program designed to provide an opportunity for those involved in masters or doctoral research to partake in and drive real-time projects in the field of extended reality.
We at JIX Reality are focused on applied research that leads to commercially viable industry prototypes. We are looking to bring on board fresh minds to accelerate the innovation process. As part of the program, students will have access to our XR lab’s hardware, support, expertise and dedicated workspace.

Applications for the 2020 spring cohort are open. Submit your Expression of Interest with two academic referrals. An applicant whose EOI is successful will be expected to attend a face to face interactive session with our research team.

Human Computer Interaction - 2020

Game Development and Animation - 2018
Early Career Fellowship - A fully paid employment gaining experience for recent masters graduate students majoring in Human Computer Interaction/ Electronics/Computer Science with specialization in Extended Reality/ Engineering. Stipend Offered: Up-to NZD 60,000 p.a.
Advanced Research Fellowship - A funded opportunity to pursue PhD in an academic program that requires completion of a research thesis in areas related to Brain Computer Interface or Human Computer Interaction. The fellowship will cover the tuition fees of the PhD program and offer a stipend of up-to NZD 30,000 p.a.
Eligibility Criteria - Early Career Fellowship
Qualification - A masters graduate in HCI/Electronics/ Computer Science/ Engineering
Software - Sound Knowledge of C and Python programming languages
Hardware - Hands-on experience working with Arduino/TI based/ ARM based processors
Conceptual - Good understanding of machine learning concepts and its applications
Preferred - Familiarity in using MATLAB/SIMULINK/LABView ; Understanding of SCI/I2C/WiFi/Zigbee/NFC/LoRaWAN/ Z-Wave/ Bluetooth communication protocols
Added Advantage - Previous experience working with body based sensors/ measurements/ body area network
Qualification - A masters graduate in Computer Science with specialization in AR/VR/MR/XR
Experience - Hands-on working knowledge of developing in UNITY and designing UI/UX interactions; Exposure to 3D design, visual development and game development
Tools and Platform - Familiarity with Vuforia, ARkit, ARCore, WebX and Wikitude
Eligibility Criteria - Advanced Research Fellowship
Qualification - A PhD program of choice in the area of Brain Computer Interface or Human Computer Interaction
Conceptual - Fundamental understanding of Signal Processing, EEG/ECG/EMG/EOG
Programming and Platform - Sound knowledge of Python and familiarity with MATLAB
Experience - Hands-on working knowledge in handling and calibrating sensors, designing BCI/HCI based experiments and implementing BCI projects
